Abandoned Yacht Club

A little bit of a different kind post again. Yesterday we went and visited the abandoned yacht club. It was a really neat experience, but quite sad. You got a sense of how amazing the place would have been in the heyday. Sad to see it in the condition it is now. However, the rumor is that it has a new owner and they plan to bring it back to its glory!

Enjoy the pictures of the cool place!

At one time, maybe.. Definitely not now. Overgrown and infested with wasps.

Ah. I was here for the grand opening party in 2004. The year liverpool won the premier league, with a room full of other cruisers up for the free rum punch, and a group of drunk Englishmen there for the soccer and free TV. Thanks again for the memories!

Very cool to meet someone who was here for the grand opening. Its so sad to see it in such bad shape only 12 years later. I would have loved to see it in the heyday.

Couple bucks and after you finish your adventure this could be the next adventure. Buying it and cleaning it up.

We learned from the locals that no one can actually “buy” that land.. Its owned by the government and only allowed as a lease. Of course there is lots of corruption so the lease and bribes are probably what killed it in the first place.
